Alexandria is a first year Master’s of Science student in the Community of Health Sciences specialized in Population and Public Health. During her undergraduate degree in Psychology, her research investigated the impacts of partner relationship quality within the postpartum context to see whether it would influence immune regulation (Lozowchuk et al., 2023). This experience allowed her to understand how the social world in which people interact with can predict health. Alexandria’s involvement as a peer-support volunteer with the Women’s Resource Centre stands as a testament to her passion for research in the domain of public health. Volunteering has not only deepened her understanding the challenges faced by individuals affected by adversity but has also strengthened her resolve to be an advocate for change. For this reason, she is eager to broaden her focus to encompass the intricate dynamics of gendered and family violence. Alexandria hopes to achieve research that will lead to creating and sustaining spaces where individuals, particularly women, can thrive and contribute to the betterment of the community.
